Welcome to Emerging Hearts Mental Wellness Center, PLLC a 100% virtual, faith based private practice. My name is Torrie Powell, the owner and founder and a Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist Associate, but more importantly, someone who understands how you feel because I have been in your shoes. I too am a survivor of sexual trauma.

Born and raised in Fayetteville, NC, I’m a wife to a US Army Veteran, a mom, and a grandmother. I graduated from Fayetteville State University and I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a Masters of Social Work with a certificate in Substance Abuse Studies. But enough about me, let’s talk about what I’m really passionate about – helping people like you navigate through the mental and emotional effects of trauma, more specifically sexual trauma.

Life can be difficult enough and sexual trauma adds another layer to those difficulties that most just do not understand. My mission? To help you redefine your life after the storm and I have established Emerging Hearts to do just that. I endeavor to be that sounding board you need when the effects of the abuse you encountered begins to interrupt you functioning by way of anxious thoughts, self blame, guilt, depression, relationship issues, etc. Don’t deal with this alone. How the trauma made you feeling is not something that you can just get over because the moment has passed. It was never your fault that someone made the decision to violate you but it is your responsibility to do the work required to heal from the pain of the trauma.

As a survivor of sexual trauma, I want you to know that this space is for you. It’s a safe place where we can work through things together.

Cancellations/No-Shows

If you are not able to keep a scheduled appointment please contact your therapist 24-hours before your appointment. If you miss an appointment, you have two weeks to contact your therapist before you are officially discharged from care. Failure to provide, at minimum, a 24-hour notice of cancellation will result in a no-show fee. Please note insurance coverage does not cover late cancellations or “no-show” appointments; you will be responsible for all fees at the full rate.

Payment

Debit/credit cards are acceptable and approved forms of payment and payment is due prior to services being rendered. Our practice requires all clients to maintain an active form of payment on their account in order to participate in services.

Health Insurance

Currently we are In-Network provider with Aetna, Ambetter, and MedCost. We also accept cash payments as well as we are currently working towards securing a contract with Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

We are Out of Network with most insurance companies, so if you are paying Out of Pocket and seeking insurance reimbursement, please check with your company first to be sure that you have “Out of Network” benefits for mental health treatment.

If you do, most companies will offer at least partial reimbursement of sessions with out of network mental health providers based on a set percentage.

**Please note that Emerging Hearts cannot complete insurance claim paperwork for clients or file claims on your behalf. Please use a service like Reimbursify if you would rather not file claims yourself.
